CLI and API keys
Install free components by URL, and Pro components through your private registry with an API key.
Free components
Free components install by URL. No account needed.
npx shadcn@latest add https://lodeui.com/r/button.jsonCreate an API key
Pro components are served only to requests that carry a key backed by an active license. Create one in Dashboard → API keys.
- Personal keys (
lode_…) use your own license. Create one per machine or tool so you can revoke them separately.
We only store a hash of each key, so copy it when you create it. Keys can expire and can be revoked at any time.
Configure the registry
Add the registry to components.json. The CLI expands the environment variable and sends it as a header.
